How Astrology Can Inform Your Therapy

New Perspectives Using Astrology

Shoot for the moon.  Even if you miss,  you’ll land among the stars  – anonymous

Your astrological birthchart and how you choose to manifest the energies in it are unique to you.

  • It is your ‘soul map,’ the energetic blueprint of your life.
  • It connects your story to the cosmos and a bigger picture.
  • It contains a wealth of information about you, which, when perceptively interpreted, can be a useful tool for insight.

For those who are interested in combining Psychotherapy with Astrology, I offer a unique approach using your astrological birthchart as a tool for insight and healing. While not dependent on your birthchart for answers, we can use it as a reference and to inform and enrich your understanding of the challenges you face.

Working with Your Birth Chart

My philosophy is that each planet is the conveyor of a particular energy. There are no “good” or “bad” planets; each planet has a lesson or gift for us and it also has a shadow side. If you’re feeling the shadow side of a particular planetary transit then I can work with you to harness more of the gift or lesson.

We’ve all been in situations where we’re presented with difficulties that seem to lock us in. Sometimes viewing the problem from a different perspective, which astrology provides, can be the key that helps us turn a situation around or see the potential in a challenge. The use of astrology to increase choice is what can make it such a valuable and empowering tool.

Astrology as a tool for therapy sounds like a refreshing way to gain new perspective on recurring patterns. I appreciate the idea that each planet has both gifts and shadow sides—it makes the practice feel more balanced and less deterministic.

The idea that there are no “good” or “bad” planets really stood out to me — it reframes challenging transits as opportunities to engage with the shadow side and find the lesson. Do you find clients are more receptive to this framework than to more traditional therapy approaches? The emphasis on increasing choice rather than prescribing answers seems like it would make astrology a very natural fit for therapy.

I agree that astrology can be a helpful tool in therapy however it is not for everyone. In California I find that there is more openness to this type of “alternative approach.” Indeed some people seek me out because I bring in the astrology piece. Other clients are not interested at all which is fine too.
