Again and again in my work with couples I see the destructive effect criticism can have on a relationship. In this article I would like to explore what my three favorite relationship experts have to say about criticism and its effects on relationship.

Drs. John & Julie Gottman
The therapists who have done the most research on the effects of criticism on relationships were undoubtedly Drs. John & Julie Gottman who are famous for their “love lab,”‘ in which hundreds of couples were screened, interviewed and observed over the course of two decades. As a result of their research the Gottmans could predict in under 5 minutes, with 90% accuracy, if a couple was going to stay together or divorce!

They came up with a metaphor to describe four communication styles that can predict the end of a relationship. ..

The Astrology Eye

On June 7th Mercury turned retrograde
Be prepared for delays as the communication planet changes direction in Cancer before it returns to Gemini on June 17.

Mercury retrogrades three times each year for approximately 21 days at a time. While the planet of communication is going backward do not make any important purchases or sign any business deals. The Mercury retrograde period is infamous for costly mistakes!

You can also expect that there will be delays with travel or traffic and things like computers and printers might break down or need some kind of servicing.

This is a great time to finish whatever you have started. It is also a good time to do most things beginning with the letters “re”.. things like retreat, revise, revision, recuperate etc. Just wait until Mercury goes direct to implement anything!

June 12: Full Moon in Sagittarius
This full moon could be potentially explosive but loud outbursts or reactions will get you nowhere with this moon. Better to harness the energy of this moon to do things like move out of your comfort zone and explore the unfamiliar. If you have a strong vision for your life this is a good time to talk with people who can help you. The full Moon marks a harvest time for any “seeds” or plans you “planted” during the previous new Moon, which was on May 28.
Where these transits fall in your personal birthchart will show how these transits play out for you in particular.
